Diagnostic assessment
Tanita MC780 analysis allows us to design each treatment using objective data rather than visual estimates.
What it is
Tanita MC780 body composition analysis is an advanced diagnostic tool that objectively assesses muscle-mass distribution, body-fat percentage, hydration level and each patient’s metabolic age.
At Photon Clinic Marbella, we use this technology as the basis for personalised metabolic activation, body-contouring and regenerative-medicine protocols. It is not simply a set of scales: it is an assessment that helps us understand the body’s actual condition before any treatment begins.
Unlike conventional scales, which show only total weight, the Tanita MC780 uses segmental bioelectrical impedance. It sends an extremely low electrical current, imperceptible to the patient, through separate body regions (right arm, left arm, trunk, right leg and left leg). This can identify asymmetries and areas of greater fluid retention or fat accumulation, establishing a meaningful baseline for measuring progress during subsequent treatment.
Body composition analysis forms part of our personalised treatments and protocols for diagnostic assessment in Marbella, and is the recommended first step before beginning any body-contouring protocol or metabolic activation programme.

How it works
Each assessment follows a structured process so results can be compared over time.
Stage 01
The patient stands barefoot on the device and holds the hand electrodes. Basic details (age, height and sex) are entered to calibrate the analysis.
Stage 02
In a few seconds, the device measures body composition independently across the arms, legs and trunk in a non-invasive way.
Stage 03
Using the results, the Photon Clinic team designs or adjusts the personalised protocol best suited to your goals.

Who it is for
Body assessment is the first step before designing any personalised plan at our Marbella clinic.
People who want a clearer understanding of their body-fat percentage and muscle mass before making a change.
Patients following programmes designed to reduce body fat or increase muscle mass in a controlled way.
Protocols designed to optimise basal metabolism and the body’s energy response.
Monitoring patients receiving regenerative and cellular-longevity treatments.
People seeking objective data before beginning any medical-aesthetic treatment.
Patients already receiving treatment at Photon Clinic who want to measure their progress objectively.

During the assessment
The appointment lasts approximately 30 minutes, including an initial interpretation of the results with the Photon Clinic team. The measurement itself takes only seconds: it is painless, requires no needles or invasive contact, and you can return to your normal routine immediately afterwards.
For the most comparable results, avoid large meals, alcohol and intense exercise beforehand. Ideally, attend while fasting or at least two hours after your last meal.
If you have a pacemaker or another implanted medical device, tell our team before the assessment so we can determine whether the analysis is appropriate for you.
What it measures
Each report contains multiple measurements that together describe the patient’s metabolic and physical condition at the time of assessment.
These data are compared at follow-up visits to measure progress beyond the number shown on the scales.
Muscle mass and body fat by body segment.
Hydration level and total body water.
Visceral fat and basal metabolism.
Estimated metabolic age based on your current body composition.
At Photon Clinic, Tanita MC780 analysis is carried out as part of the initial diagnostic assessment before a personalised protocol is designed.
We do not design a protocol without this initial assessment. It allows us to adapt subsequent treatment to each patient’s actual physiology rather than a generic estimate.
Analysis results must always be interpreted as part of an individual assessment and do not replace a personalised medical consultation where one is required.
Frequently asked questions
These answers are general guidance. Any specific questions will be addressed during your initial assessment.
No. It is a quick, non-invasive procedure with no needles or discomfort.
Approximately 30 minutes, including an initial interpretation of the results.
Avoid large meals and intense exercise before the assessment. Ideally, attend while fasting or at least two hours after your last meal.
Yes. Repeat assessments are recommended to monitor metabolic progress and compare results with previous measurements.
Ordinary scales measure only total weight. The Tanita MC780 uses segmental bioelectrical impedance to analyse muscle mass, fat and water separately in each body region.
It is suitable for most people. If you have a pacemaker or another implanted medical device, tell our team before the assessment.
Yes. Body assessment is the basis of our body-contouring, metabolic-activation and regenerative-medicine protocols.
It depends on the protocol, but it is usually repeated every 4–6 weeks to measure genuine treatment progress.
